API Standard

API engine oil service category is one of the global standards for automotive luboils classified by the American Petroleum Institute.

Various tests are required examing various important quality and performance such as oxidation stability, anti-rust properties, anti-corrosion properties, anti-wear properties, anti-volatility, shearing stability and etc.

The latest classification is API SP which is in effect on May 1st, 2020 to add more performance to meet the new demands of modern vehicles especially on Fuel Economy and LSPI (Low-Speed Pre-Ignition) problem.

The API service symbol mark called "Donut" can be claimed only for the products officially approved by API.

※LSPI (Low-Speed Pre-Ignition）

LSPI is an abnormal combustion event in which the fuel-air mixture ignites before intended, that will cause unexpected huge pressures inside the engine's cylinders.  In worst case, LSPI will make engine damaged. From API SP via SN Plus, it can prevent from such LSPI phenomenon.

ILSAC Standars

ILSAC oil specification is settled by International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee which is formed by American and Japanese automobile manufacturers associations.

The ILSAC symbol marks, so called "Starburst" and "Sheild"can be claimed together with API SP Donut for the products which have superior resource conserving property.

From May 1st, 2020, ILSAC GF-6 is released and is split to two subcategories, GF-6A and GF-6B.

●ILSAC GF-6A

- Replacing the previous GF-5 upgrading the fuel economy performance and others
- Covering SAE 0W-20, 5W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30 and 10W-30
- Claiming "Starburst"

●ILSAC GF-6B

- New category from GF-6
- Coveryin SAE 0W-16 and requing ever severest fuel economy performance
- Claiming "Sheild"

The products carrying "Starburst" or "Sheild" are the products approved by both Japanese and American automobile manufacturers.
